The AS350, the AStar, the Squirrel, the Ecureuil. Different names for the same thing: probably the best general purpose helicopter in the world.
And this example – a 2006 350B2 is simply fantastic. With just 370 hours on the clock, it’s pretty much “as new”.
I had the pleasure of flying this one for 30 minutes on a ferry flight and from a pilot’s perspective, it is just fabulous. Smooth – amazingly so compared to a R22 -, fast – we had an airspeed of around 130kts -, sensitive and manoeuvrable – just like a R22 or a MD500.
If budget wasn’t an issue, I’d have a AS350. But it is! At over a million Euros, it’s a helluva machine.
It’s luxury travel for 6 people, a time machine and a lifestyle. You’ll have arrived when you arrive in this, if you see what I mean.
Metallic black on the outside, and gorgeous leather inside, it is superb.
Currently the aircraft is based Ireland, and if you want to visit, I’ll meet you there. Either Belfast International Airport or Belfast City Airport are conveniently located.
If you hurry, there is still time to buy this aircraft in Denmark, thereby taking advantage of the zero rate of VAT in this EU country. If you need advice on this, just ask.
