new ACES II seat
*** Posted by JW ***
Hi,
Can anyone say for sure that there is a mod going on to replace viper seats to the new one, where the sensor tube is "spring loaded" instead of the current fixed design. I have also heard that this mod is also happening in the A-10 community. Anyone know if these will happen to all type which uses the ACES II seat ?
cheers

Re: new ACES II seat
The ACES II seat in F-16AM/BMs in particular are being modified with new seat tops because of the better visibility offered when using NVGs (the sensors do not get in the way when the pilot turn the head to check "six"). These new tops are all black and similar to the ones used in the F-117A. I do not know of any other ACES II equipped aircraft that are to receive this mod.
