Sunday at the California International Airshow(CIAS) the air's moisture content was near maximum as the marine layer hovered just north of the show. As the day progressed, the airshow shifted from blue sky to low clouds. Most performers performed low shows as the weather deteriorated. The Super Hornet did the low show and really wowed the crowd with constant vapor clouds surrounding the aircraft.

You know sometimes i think to myself how do they get so close up to eacother? like the thunderbirds. They are amzing. and the blueangels. Sometimes they do manuevers that are so unbelievable. My question is how do they get so close to eacother? like in diamond formation, is it auto pilot do you have to use math can someone explain?

Yesterday was the best day of my life so far. I saw an airshow for the frist time in 11 years. I've never been to a big airplane-related event forever, it was serious cloud-nine. The Blue Angles where asome, this was their frist show since the crash. It was at S.J.A.F.B. in North Carolina! Near the same place where the crash took place.

EAA AirVenture 2006 Oshkosh USA : WARBIRDS + F-22A pictures

Hi fellows!

This year I finally got to the worlds biggest aviation event, the EAA Airventure Fly-in :twisted: . On this 7 day event more than 10000 aircraft meet eachother :!: . During the afternoon the crowd is pleased with some very interesting displays from the oldest to the newest planes in the world.

This years theme was the reunion of the Big Bombers 8) . This means a total of 3 B-17's, 1 B-24, 1 Lancaster, 5 B-25's and finally 1 B-1B bomber present on the event. Unfortunattly the sole B-29 still flying couldn't be there because of engine problems. :cry:

But nevertheless this years show was BIG!

I went especially to see the huge collection of warbirds. The rows of mustangs,T-28 and T6's are crazy! I think there were about 30 P-51's, a very unique sight!

Specials this year were the first visit of the USAF newest fighter, the F-22A Raptor, which came out of nowhere on thursday. Other specials were the Blue Angels, the US navy historic flight, and the first appearance of the new HondaJet.

The amount of material I came home with was HUGE but here's a little bit of it :arrow: :

Just after 12h the showcase begins. This part is different each day and is always unpredictable because their is no program available for it. The most incredible in it this year was the Raptor display. Shame about the bad weather at that moment but it's display was AWESOME! :twisted:

The week before I had seen the Mig-29OVT at Fairford but know I've seen the Raptor... The Mig really is no match for the F-22A from my point of view.The amount of power this bird has is enormous. It performed almost every manouvre of the mig, exept the double 360° cobra ( I DID a single 360° Cobra! :!: ) , but combined with its giant acceleration the result is unmatched by the Russians. :twisted:

At the end of it they flew an amazing lost men formation consisting of 2B-17's , a B-24 and the Canadian Lancaster.

So so after 2h creating this topic :) . Hope you like my work.For me it was an unbelievable trip to the US. Looking very forward to the next major trip.

This is absolutly an event you must have seen once in your spotting carreer. From civil to military, from old to hightech everything is represented on this event. Next years special will normally be the visit of the A380 plus many more !!!

Last year they had eight, count them eight, flying B-17's at the show under the theme "a gathering of bombers". As someone born in the 1970's, I never had the opportunity to witness vast formations of these awesome aircraft, and was glad I was there to experience what was hailed as likely the largest (since WWII or shortly thereafter) and probably the final gathering of so many of these fabled planes. To see eight of them running up their engines, taxiing, taking off, and flying in formation together literally gave me goosebumps - pretty frickin' cool!

This year's theme is the Battle of Britain and there are supposedly Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lancaster as well as some of Germany's finest coming next weekend. This is truly a great airshow. If you are in the Ypsilanti, MI area the weekend of August 5-6, 2006, be sure to drop by and catch it.

Things have been a bit quiet on the Classic Fighters website (http://www.classicfighters.co.nz) over the past few months, but that's mainly because we've been working away in the background giving the site a major overhaul, both internally and visually.

We've got the bulk of that work completed and will now be sending out our email newsletters on a much more frequent and regular basis. These usually contain info about what's happening at Omaka Aerodrome, and what we have in store for Classic Fighters 2007. We'll be adding lots of new photos and video to the site over the coming months.

This mainly applies to Danish citezens so I will proceed in Danish.

Som de fleste nok ved kommer Blue Angels til dette års airshow i Leeuwarden i Holland. Jeg er derfor ved at arrangere en bustur til showet dernede. Turen starter Torsdag den 15/6 i København, og den slutter igen i København søndag den 17/6. Vi vil være begge dag (fredag og lørdag) ved airshowet, som er det eneste sted i europa at man kan oplevet Blue Angels give opvisning. Turen koster 1900 kr. pr. person, og der er kun et begrænset antal pladser, som vil blive solgt efter første-til-mølle princippet.
