Flight Training In Philippines

Hey folks,
Greetings.i am here to share something which i learnt over the past few months Well i did my training at Aviation Training One International which is based in Dumaguete Philippines. I can say that the training that i had undergone was excellent, meeting the FAA standards.

The coolest thing which i had was the spin training where it was a bit scary at the 1st but its normal now, the adrenaline that i felt was unexplainable.The newest thing which i enrolled to is the Flight Instructors course. Any ways i am sharing this with you guys so that it would serve as an guiding aid in choosing the right school after all to get the best training in Philippines.

Questions about GA Financing

I looked for a forum section for answering finance questions, but I didn't see any. I do GA financing and I wanted to see if anyone had any questions about the topic. Financing GA planes is its own process and is unlike financing a house, car, or even the 'big iron' so I didn't know if there were any questions I could answer for folks. Shoot away.

I'm looking to contract big aircraft in the Middle East and Africa

I was hoping someone could give me some information regarding a company operating in the Middle East/ Africa that contracts out aircraft. I'm looking for something as big as a 737 and all other smaller types of aircraft.

This company needs to have the ability to fly into places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sudan.

I have a panel mount G150 that works great linked to a Apollo for a moving map. I have the hopes to upgrade to a GNS530W. I have looked at several used " yellow tagged " unites. Looks like they are affordable. This will clean up my panel and get all in center stack since I removed a old two head ADF. Is there more than I think to this? I realize the installation is costly and I need the GLS69 to match. What else?

I am looking for more information on the Conroy Stolifter. What I know is that it started out life as a Cessna Skymaster which Jack Conroy removed the rear engine and inserted a 575 horse Garrett turbine in the nose. I have only found a grainy black and white photo of it and would like to find more. Any help or tips on where to turn for more info would be great. Thanks

Help with Propeller/Gift question....

Hello,
I'll be upfront, I'm graduating from medical residency and my adviser is an avid pilot. I figured that for a nice advisee gift would be a wooden propeller that he could hang over his desk/mantle etc. I was going to have it engraved with a nice phrase. I know nothing of airplanes so....

Question is:
Where have you (or anyone you know) had luck finding a good replica propeller that would fit the purpose. I went to http://www.asimplertime.com/gifts/dept.asp?s_id=0&dept_name=Propellers&dept_id=903&WT.svl=deptnav1

which look like what I'm looking for, but when I review the specs its a 7ft prop that weighs 8lbs, makes me think that they are "cheap", but I don't know if a prop should weigh that much? I'm looking at spending <$500 USD, "vintage" wooden prop that an airplane aficionado would put up.

Regardless, if anyone could point me in a general direction I'd VERY much appreciate it, or if the above is a good store, I'll go with them.

Aviation Maintenance: hours v's calendar

Hi All,

I am currently writing a dissertation for my Masters in Maintenance Engineering.

The topic of the dissertation is Fixed Time Maintenance. I am looking at how maintenance is scheduled on a calendar basis versus a usage basis.

From my research I see that the aircraft industry performs a large proportion of their maintenance on calendar and usage

I am trying to learn the operating conditions or basis for performing the maintenance task on calendar or usage.

I know that some maintenance is performed on hourly limit checks or operating cycle limit check. Maintenance used to be performed by Letters, prior to Boeing going to MSG-3 rev2.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance that can be provided or if someone can point me towards some reference material that might enlighten me.

Don't get me wrong, I want to fly but as a 13 year old is it worth it. What does it feel like to fly. (Don't spoil it), I need to know if my money will be well earned and spent. I would like a private and then IFR license. How often should I take lessons seeing as I can't solo till 16 or get my private until 17? How much time and money will I spend for the solo, private and IFR. Should I make this investment will it payoff if not in a pathway to a commercial license in the experience of it? Is it worth the time and money?

Need your help—Petition for Indiana Seaplane Open Waters

The Indiana Seaplane Pilots Association (ISPA) is seeking help in with a state-wide seaplane issue that is heating up.

Last week the INDNR announced two upcoming hearings (Feb. 3 and 4), about a proposed change in status for five lakes—currently classified as private-use landing areas—to public-use.

Indiana, as you may know, is backwards when it comes to seaplanes. Unlike WI, IL, MI, MN, etc., where the rule is (more like) "open unless prohibited", the law in Indiana is "closed unless an approved seaplane landing area (base) exists." There are only four public-use seaplane bases out of over 750 lakes in the state.

Since 1998, Randy Strebig, a Maule-driver and Seaplane Pilots Assn. field director from Ft. Wayne, has singlehandedly fought for more access. Through his efforts and those of his organization, ISPA, over time, INDNR and INDOT have granted a pilot program of private-use landing areas on 17 lakes. You have to get Randy's permission to land, but at least they're somewhat open. (Admittedly, requiring permission from a private individual to land on public waters is a screwy situation.)

Now the INDNR has proposed changing the status of five lakes from private-use to public-use. This is a (small) step in the right direction. There is some concern that they might simultaneously try to restrict or close access, but we're hoping for a big show of support to avoid this.
