Hi guys! Just want to quote an F16 accident that happened some time ago.
"In aft ejection mode, the front pilot pulls the ejection handle. The aft pilot was supposed to be ejected first, and after a short delay, the front pilot. Suprisingly, the front pilot ejected first, and the rocket blast from the ACES II seat gave the aft pilot first degree burns. The aft pilot eventually ejected and he survived the ordeal."
I was told that this might have something to do with the M99 and M53 initiators. What went wrong? Something wrong with the ejection sequence?
Please help.
Thanks.
Regards,
Shane

I remember reading about that specific incident. If I am not mistaken it happened at night and as far as I recall the guy in the back seat was not a pilot, but a doc or mechanic or something. Don't recall the exact cause, but I think you are on the right track. An american F-16 pilot who ha access to the information would be helpfull. We see the american reports, but I am not sure if we store them after we are done with them.
