what would u say the hardest soviet fight would b? mig-29? su-27? you said in other post the su-27 is basicaly the better plane in a dogfight. So is it better then 29 in dogfight then?

Hi

The Flanker will outperform the Fulcrum. Especially at higher altitudes. The Flanker also has better avionics and is more fuel efficient.
You also have to consider the ordnance they carry.

Sure the Su-27 has more power. This is obvious as the mig-29s TWR really isnt that hot. As the aviano vipers have found when pitted against the German 29s the vipers could out power the fulcrum and take it into the vertical flight where it was able to lose the 29. But would the viper stand a good chance against the flanker. I think the viper has better overall performence as it's AOA limiters mean that best cornering speed and energy is induced into the turns where the fulcrum and flanker wont have these limiters, thus pulling harder yet energy sapping turns which means their ability to carry on the fight is not sustained. But my question is can the viper overcome the flankers non AOA limited flight characteristics? And is the AOA limiter on the viper a good thing in practice as it is in theory? By the sounds of things the flanker without the AOA limiter would lose energy but would outturn the viper to get a firing solution. Is this right? But if the vipers FBW allows it to do a continuous 9G turn then shouldnt this be enough?

In todays world turning dogfights are getting more and more rare and the Flanker is a far better figter in the BVR arena, so I would say the Flanker is the hardest to fight.
When it comes to dogfighting the two, they both have their different strenghts and weaknesses. I have only fought the MiG 29 (Training) and that wasn't too hard a job for the Viper.
